Speech Night 2009 promises to be a very special occasion. It will be held for the first time at Plenary Hall, Melbourne Convention & Exhibnition Centre on Tuesday 1st December commencing at 7.30pm. His Honour Justice Michael Kirby AC CMG, a former Justice of the High Court of Australia, serving from 1996 to 2009 is guest speaker. He retired from the High Court on 2 February 2009. In February 2009, he was appointed a distinguished visiting fellow at the Australian National University (ANU) in Canberra. In March 2009, he was appointed to the University of New South Wales Faculty of Law as Visiting Professorial Fellow.
Apart from the academic, general and sporting prizes to be presented the School showcases its wonderful musicians and dancers in a programme of superb choral, instrumental and orchestral music. All Old Boys should make every effort to attend and join with todays' parents and boys in celebrating the 2009 year at Melourne High School. There is again a pre-Speech Night Dinner this year in an adjacent function room to the Plenary Hall. Everyone is invited. Tickets are $70 per person and include pre-dinner drinks from 5.45pm, an excellent plated meal followed by fruit and cheese platters, coffee and tea. Tickets for Speech night are Adult $28 Student/Child $23 Family (2 adults + 2 students) $95 Bookings are now open online.
