On the 8th of May the MHSOBA returned to the famous Leonda by the Yarra for our 104th Annual Dinner. With 230 guests in attendance it was shaping up to be a fabulous night! Bucking the trends, our guests arrived fashionably early and were greeted with refreshments, canapés and good cheer with our MHS String Quartet setting the atmosphere. Once our guests moved into the main room, as per tradition the night was formally opened with the singing of the school song. This year it was lead by Lachlan Sinclair and accompanied by the MHS String Quartet. The MHSOBA President, Andrew Neilson, opened our dinner with an overview of the association's activities in the last year and introduced MHS Principal, Jeremy Ludowyke, to toast the school. Jeremy also lead a call to arms to raise much needed funds for the redevelopment of the Library which will provide an update of the school's library resources. Guests were extremely generous and raised over $36,000. This is further testament to how the MHSOBA community continue to give back to the school in order to provide the same opportunities it bestowed upon us. Our much anticipated guest speaker Lindsay Fox enlightened us with some sincere words of wisdom in his Q&A session with the MC John Faine. Lindsay shared with us his opinions into Australia's economy and leadership. He also shared with us some touching insights into how he builds relationships and orchestrated audience participation! Our President outlined the recent restructure of the MHSOBA administration and its plans moving forward. He also acknowledged the significant and tireless contribution that Colin Green has made to the MHSOBA over multiple decades and presented him with a token of our appreciation. Colin's drive and passion for the school over many years has brought the association into a new era. We encourage all to take up the challenge of continuing to support and build this institution. A big thank you to all our sponsors and supporters. Their contribution went a long way to ensuring the night was a success in all respects for the Association. The raffle and silent auction were able to reach in excess of $5,000 which helps us continue to support the school and our members. We continue to value your support and engagement and encourage you to stay abreast of our upcoming events by visiting the website and face book page. The food was scrumptious, the service impeccable and the laughs plenty! It was a fantastic night enjoyed by all. See you all again next year! Photogalleries Related: 2012 Annual Dinner photo gallery
