2017 MHS Rugby Fundraiser

2017 MHS Rugby Fundraiser

event date: 01-Aug-2017
Dear Melbourne High School Old-boys and Wider Community,

The MHS Rugby team, is having one of its best seasons on record, finishing the season in 2nd position, and with the best points for/against ratio in the league. However as we are preparing to launch into our Finals Campaign this coming weekend, the tragic news that one of our players’ family has been devastated by childhood leukemia, has touched the entire Rugby Fraternity. Young Bella, 9 Year old cousin of Nathan Nguyen, has relapsed with previously removed leukemia, and is currently undergoing treatment. As a team, and a family, we have unanimously decided to show our support for the Nguyen family by wearing Golden Socks, the colour adopted to represent the fight against cancer, for the duration of our Semi-Final and we hope, Grand Final.

I am writing to ask also for your support. We are trying to raise at least $5000, and are looking for sponsors to pledge donations to go towards the Challenge Foundation. This organisation not only supports Bella, but thousands of children trying to battle childhood childhood cancer.

We would all be so delighted if you would agree to contribute. In addition to knowing that you have helped a great cause we are more than happy to send signed team photographs, acknowledging the sponsor or individual by name, as well as amount donated.

Our idea was for sponsors or individuals to pledge money for every point we score or every try scored throughout the finals, for example $100-$500. However flat donations are also greatly appreciated, and no offer of support is too small for this great cause which has become so close to our hearts.

Here is the link to our Donation Page, and every donation above $3 is Tax Deductible.

For those who cannot donate, but would still love to show support, The Grand Final will be held at Haileybury College on August 12th, with more details to still be confirmed.
Feel free to contact me at offer at for any inquiries.

With thanks,

Joseph Owen
Captain of the Melbourne High Rugby Team
